![]() When scanning Kodachromes with a neutral light source, i.e. Kodachrome slides are specially designed for presentation with a projector with a tungsten light source. Kodachromes: using a specific color profile against the blue cast A special target is required for each lighting situation, which is used to create a color profile for that one scan mode. When scanning photographic prints and other opaque or reflective originals, the transparency unit is covered, while slides and negatives, whether framed or as film strips, are scanned with the transparency unit open. With a flatbed scanner, there are two different lighting situations: with or without using the transparency unit. Reflective scans and transparent scans require different profilesĪ film scanner knows only one light situation, because with a film scanner only transparent originals can be scanned. ![]() SilverFast has a color management system that can manage multiple color profiles, because multiple profiles are possible and necessary for each device.
